The data is based on Form D disclosures filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The individual deals underlying the data can be accessed here for new companies, here for all companies, and here for venture capital funds. The numbers in this beta version of the report are preliminary and subject to later update.

Weekly Synopsis:

Dollar-volume fundraising for startup companies continues to trend above last year, but the number of deals and number of investors are down slightly. Venture capital for the week is trending well below the same period last year, with the much larger year-to-date numbers driven solely by the more than $4 billion raised by EnCap Energy Capital Fund IX last week. As discussed last week, the classification of that deal as "venture capital" as opposed to "private equity" remains uncertain.
